5 WAYS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR PRAYER TIME
Prayer is what allows us to worship and give praise to God. It grants us the opportunity to present our requests to God which involves communication - by that we communicate with our Creator. God is genuinely cares for us, wants to reveal things to us and wants to commune with us through prayer. Prayer is communication and just like communication, prayer is a two way street. That is, you talk to God and he talks to you back. However, a lot of Christians today find it difficult to maximum their prayer time with God. Looking at the distractions here are there so many Christians have their minds wander away during prayer and thereby end up very little time with God.
Below are 5 ways you can maximize your prayer time.
1. Have a prayer structure.
It's quite important that you have a structure for your prayer life, having a time of the day set aside for God and what to pray about/for on each day; you have 24 hours a day and know when best is suitable for you. Although, there are times that you'd be led to pray for something or someone else but with a structure in place, you know you wouldn't be going into prayer without an idea of what to talk to God about. And if you are led into another direction, it's a plus to spend even more time with God in prayer. For instance, you can decide to pray for yourself on Monday, Your friends on Tuesday, your family on Wednesday etc. Create your structure it however suitable for you.
2. Have a prayer playlist.

2. Have a prayer playlist.
Another way to maximize your prayer time is to have a prayer playlist. You can make a playlist of songs that stirs you up to pray. Few minutes before your prayer time, begin to stir yourself up. You may ask why have a playlist? Sometimes, we are so lazy to pray but once you can get song(s) that stirs your spirit up, you'd be charged up to pray. Another challenge some Christian face is having to constantly check how long they've spent in prayer. I'm sure you've had cases where you feel like you've been praying for one hour only to find out that you've only been praying for 10 minutes (This can be heart breaking). With your prayer playlist, you have an idea how many songs play during your prayer time instead of constantly checking the time and giving yourself multiple heartbreaks because the time seem to be crawling.
3. Pray and sing in Tongues.
Praying in Tongues is you speaking mysteries and you communicating to God alone. Singing and praying with our spirit implies using the gift of tongues. They help release the mysteries of God and ignite our hearts with passion for Him. Praying in Tongues is powerful and enjoyable. However, many people misunderstand the purpose of the gift of tongues and the scriptures that describe it. Everyday, I make myself see praying in Tongues as a way of God wanting us to be enjoy prayer and be comfortable while at it. My reason for thinking this way is this: Our human mind is limited, sometimes when I pray in my understanding, I find it difficult to find the right words to describe how great and awesome God is. In fact, if I decide to pray in my understanding throughout my prayer time, once I'm done, there's this unsatisfaction that comes with it. More like I haven't praised God in the best way I can but when I pray in Tongues and also pray in my understanding, my spirit gets satisfied. There's just a satisfaction that comes with praying in the Tongues. In case you're why wondering how Singing in Tongues works, it's just you praying in Tongues with rhythm; same way you sing normally.
4. Get a prayer partner.
This works a lot for many while it doesn't work for some, depends on human preferences. I have encountered people who are searching for prayer partners or have prayer partners and I've seen those who prefer to pray alone or have short term prayer partners. However, it's best to study whoever you are picking as your prayer partner and as well know if you are capable of maintaining a prayer partner.
The scriptures says "Iron sharpens Iron". Go for people who are willing to sharpen you and are serious about their spiritual growth.

5. Journal.
Every Christian should learn to journal. Write how you feel about your day, how you feel about God; just write in any state of mind you are in ; whether sad or happy. Also, endeavour to have your journal close to you when praying because ideas are birthed in prayers and mysteries are made known to us in prayer. Therefore, pray with the expectation that God will speak to you back and write down all he says to you in your journal.
